About studio eHome

Studio e offers physical therapy, personal training and Pilates (mat and reformer) within the walls of a beautifully decorated studio in the heart of Paducah’s Lower Town Arts District. This welcoming, serene treatment center fosters a healing environment unique among the many clinics and gyms of mainstream America.

My intent was to create an atmosphere that would foster healing and growth of the mind and body. With the help of friends and family, especially my brother Bart, who does amazing things with wood and color, I feel I have achieved my goal. I would love to hear from you, or better yet, have you visit the studio firsthand.

Personal Training

Emily works one-on-one with individuals who want to improve their posture, strength and flexibility. Through her wealth of knowledge and experience as a physical therapist she is able to identify the problem areas and design an individualized treatment program that includes manual techniques as well as a pilates/yoga-based exercise program to achieve the desired goals.

Benefits of the pilates/yoga based exercise program

The pilates/yoga based exercise program improves body awareness, strength, and flexibility resulting in getting in touch with core muscles. Once an individual begins making these changes then it is just a matter of time and practice before the neuromuscular system (connection between the brain and muscles) is retrained and the habit of good posture is formed. These new habits transfer immediately into everyday activity.

What is Pilates?

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of strengthening an stretching exercises developed over 90 years ago by Joseph Pilates. Unlike traditional weight lifting programs that are based on isolating muscles and working each area of the body individually, Pilates exercises treat the body as an integrated whole. It involves a unique set of exercises designed to strengthen and tone muscles, improve posture, provide flexibility and balance, unite body and mind for improved body awareness and creates a more streamlined shape. The beauty of this program is that it teaches us that the body itself is the only tool necessary for achieving physical fitness. The effects are almost immediate. A quote by Joseph Pilates, “In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty you see the difference, and in thirty you will have a whole new body.”

Studio e offers private (one-on-one) or private group (up to 4) pilates mat and reformer classes. The small group or one-on-one sessions provide the verbal and tactile cueing necessary to ensure proper form so that maximum benefits can be achieved without danger of injury. These sessions are by appointment only.

Emily Young, Physical Therapist

Ms. Emily Young, a licensed physical therapist, is owner and operator of studio e. She has been practicing as a physical therapist for 13 years. Throughout the course of her career she has broadened her scope of treatment by earning special training in lymphedema, manual therapy, Pilates and yoga. She has treated patients with lymphedema; chronic/acute back, neck, shoulder, hip and knee pain; sacroiliac joint dysfunction; mild incontinence, fibromyalgia; osteoporosis and arthritis. By utilizing a hands-on approach, including various manual techniques and a pilates/yoga based exercise program, she identifies the underlying source of the pain and designs individual treatment exercises allowing relief of symptoms, freedom of movement and prevention of future injuries.

She suffered from chronic back and S.I. pain for many years. Unable to get long- term relief using a traditional exercise program that included weight lifting and stretches, she began to experiment with pilates and yoga, eventually blending the two to maximize flexibility, strength and core awareness needed to maintain good alignment and posture for long term relief of symptoms. By “walking the talk” she has managed to transform her own body and free herself from the nagging aches and pains. Her mission is to empower others to free themselves of pain.
